FAIRS, FESTIVALS, AND CONCERTS
Ithaca has an abundance of Fairs, Festivals and Concerts! I've included annual events here. Check the calendar for this year's dates and times!
Cornell Arts Quad -Friday Nights -free concerts on the Arts Quad starting at 7pm. Late June through late July.
Downtown Summer Concert Series Thursday evenings- Free music on the commons from 6-8 running mid June through early September.
Dryden Summer Music Series Wednesday evenings 6:30 at the Dryden VFW on Rt 13. Free. Rain or shine (music moves inside in inclement weather). Runs mid July-Mid August.
Ellis Hollow Music In the Hollow - Tuesday evenings 6:00-8:00. Free. Runs Mid July-Mid August, often with a late June kick off day.
Myers Park Music in the Park - Thursday evenings at 6:30 Free, but donation encouraged. Mid July-Mid August. Look for Ludlowvile park concerts as well.
Taughannock Concert series - Saturdays at 7pm, mid July - late Aug. Free with park entry or $5 for concert parking.
FESTIVALS & SPECIAL EVENTS
4-H Duck Race - Every April, watch thousands of ducks tumble over Cascadilla Falls and hope your duck wins the $500 prize! Proceeds go to Tompkins County 4-H.
4-H Fair - This fun mini-fair has animals, projects, kids games and good food. The fair is at 4-H acres off of Highway 13. The Fair is held in late July. Apple Harvest Festival - Early October - This festival has music, food, carnival rides and more.
Cornell Homecoming Weekend - This weekend is full of family friendly activities like fireworks, the pre-game tailgating "Family Fun Zone" and of course, Football! Homecoming weekend is usually mid October.
Dragon Boat Festival - Finger Lakes International Dragon Boat Festival is a family friendly event that takes place in July. There is exhilarating dragon boat racing, fun activities, arts & craft vendors, food vendors, and various other activities to keep everyone of all ages entertained throughout the day.
Ellis Hollow Fair - This fair takes place in September, the weekend after Labor Day. This old fashion country fair takes place at the Ellis Hollow Community Center grounds and has good food and music, a yard sale, book sale, horse drawn carriage rides, and tons of fun game booths for kids.
Fireworks: The Ithaca Area tends to have Fireworks several times throughout the year - the evening before Ithaca College commencement over South Hill, and the first week of July at Myers Park in Lansing and Stewart Park in Ithaca, Cornell Homecoming weekend, and often late summer/early fall out at "Celebrations" near the Caroline Elementary School on hwy 79. Check the calendar for days and times.
GrassRoots Festival - Large 4 day music and dance festival in Trumansburg every July
Ithaca Festival - Starting the last weekend of May, the Ithaca Festival has a parade, concerts, a craft fair, paint off, and more! The Parade is Thursday evening down Cayuga St.
Ithaca Celtic Festival (formerly known as Ithaca Scottish Games) -IA traditional Celtic festival at the tip of Cayuga Lake that happens the last weekend in June. Competitions such as bagpiping and sheep shearing, food and non-stop activities for children including the annual clan scavenger hunt, Irish step-dancing, Gaelic lessons and a wellness tent.
Trumansburg Fair - this fair is heavy on the carnival rides and light on displays. There is often a traveling zoo and a monster truck show. Look for the fair in late July.
Wizarding Weekend - This magical Harry Potter themed festival takes place around Halloween. Started by the folks in Press Bay Alley, the festival now takes place all around the commons. The weekend includes costumes, food, tons of booths and games (including quidditch!), classes and storytimes
